Barwon Riverkeeper
Victoria’s surf coast hosts generations of waterlovers - swimmers, surfers, anglers, boaties - to a mix of magnificent surf beaches, river estuaries and upstream lakes. The Barwon Riverkeeper keeps an eye out to see that his bit of this environment is in tip-top shape.
Ted O’Rourke is an on-water Riverkeeper - you’ll generally find him on one of his boats, perhaps showing visitors the bird life of Lake Connewarre (Ted is a Parks Victoria tour operator), helping a new-chum angler to cast a line (Ted is a VR Fish rep for his area) or checking out a stand of mangroves imperilled by a plan to cut a swathe through them for a road bridge.
